Latest Kodi Matrix triggers Dolby Vision. Its possible to play them from a nas (smb) and frame rate switching works as expected for the sample files (I tested 3 files with 60fps and I was wondering if Kodi supports Dolby Vision content on the new 2019 Shield or does Kodi need to do an update to support it?

Maybe after some patches and upgrades they will match the Shield TV, remember the Shield has had a lot of stuff added via patching and When did Dolby Vision started being embeddable in a MKV container??? I just downloaded a Fellowship of the Ring 4K Remux with DoVi in the title, and sure enough, Plex direct plays the container and switches my LG 65C9 OLED to Dolby Vision correctly? It's buggy, sometimes it requires a video restart, but it works. I thought this was not possible.

Apart from the gaming factor, the Shield also offers Dolby Vision & Atmos, AI Upscaling, and 4K HDR10 support, among other goodies. And then there are the looks. They are eye-catching, to say the least, and manage to strike a perfect chord between being visually appealing for gamers as well as for regular users. So, like many, I've decided to sacrifice Dolby Vision and picked up the cheapest Android TV box that supports TrueHD audio passthrough which for me was original 2016 Mi Box for 30β¬. I still hope soon there will be a way to enjoy both while not spending a fortune.
